The European Parliament has urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant for Alexander Lukashenko, the Belarusian leader, on grounds of his alleged involvement in war crimes during the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Euronews, the European Parliament contend that Lukashenko contributed to Russia's unwarranted aggression, directly holding him responsible for the devastation inflicted upon Ukraine.
Additionally, the present Belarusian authorities are accused of forcibly relocating more than 2,150 Ukrainian children to Belarus, where they undergo mandatory Russification in what are termed "rehabilitation camps."
One of the individuals sought under the ICC warrant in this case is Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia's children's ombudsman, who faces charges of unlawfully transporting Ukrainian children to Russia. The European Parliament advocates for imposing sanctions on Belarus akin to those levied by the EU against Russia.
Earlier Daryo reported that the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor in The Hague, Karim Ahmad Khan, who had issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, was subsequently sought by Russia.
