President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who holds the esteemed role of Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Kazakhstan's Armed Forces, paid a visit to the Batyl Toytarys (Bold Rebuff) 2023 military exercises, which unfolded at the Bereg training ground in Konayev, the administrative center of the Almaty Region, on September 5.
President Tokayev, overseeing the maneuvers from a watchtower, was provided with a comprehensive briefing before the commencement of the exercises. Major Generals Bolat Zhurabayev and Almaz Dzhumakeyev meticulously outlined the deployment strategies of special operations forces and air assault troops for the defensive operation.
These exercises served as a litmus test for both state and military authorities, as they evaluated their preparedness for defensive operations. Remarkably, all decisions made at various headquarters levels were executed with precision by the participating troops. The event saw the involvement of an impressive 8,000 military personnel, who utilized an array of 600 weapons and military equipment.
In his address following the conclusion of the exercises, President Tokayev commended the troops for their exceptional level of preparedness. He underscored the critical importance of conducting such drills, especially in the midst of the current complex geopolitical landscape.
"Large-scale changes are taking place today in the global defense system. Modern methods and techniques of warfare, especially hybrid types, are becoming more widespread. Attacks may not only be military, but also informational, psychological, political, and economic. Therefore, the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan must be ready for any challenges. This is the main requirement for a modern professional army. We have only one homeland – Kazakhstan. Ensuring the security and protection of our country, land, and citizens is our common sacred duty," President Tokayev stated.
Moreover, President Tokayev emphasized that the effectiveness of the Armed Forces hinges on the combat skills and morale of its military personnel. He emphasized the need for troops and commanders to meet increased demands in modern combat, act autonomously when necessary, show initiative, creativity, courage, perseverance, and loyalty to the oath. Commanders play a crucial role in maintaining high training standards, cohesion, and strict order within the Armed Forces, ensuring that every soldier masters their assigned weapons and equipment and demonstrates determination and courage.
These joint combat training exercises were not limited to the Bereg training ground alone but were also conducted at training grounds in the Almaty, Karagandy, North Kazakhstan, and Abai regions. This comprehensive approach showcases Kazakhstan's commitment to ensuring its Armed Forces remain agile and prepared in the face of evolving security challenges.
The Batyl Toytarys 2023 military exercises serve as a testament to Kazakhstan's dedication to maintaining a robust defense apparatus in an ever-changing global landscape, with President Tokayev's leadership at the forefront of this effort.
