Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov announced the government's plans to attract investment for exploring and developing new gas fields, media reports.
The government has been given the responsibility of expanding gas usage throughout the country by building new gas processing plants and making full use of existing facilities. To accomplish this goal, measures must be taken to encourage investment in exploring and developing new gas fields. Additionally, it is important to complete the draft Integrated Plan for major oil, gas, and petrochemical projects by 2027,
Alikhan Smailov said in a government meeting.
On September 1, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that expanding the country's commodity gas resources is a priority for the government and the national gas company.
We need to speed up the building of new gas processing plants and make full use of existing facilities. Our oil and gas leaders, such as Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak, should be dependable providers of this resource. Additionally, it's crucial to draw in investments for exploring and exploiting new gas fields,
he added.
QazaqGaz is the main gas company in Kazakhstan, representing the state in domestic and foreign markets.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Chairman of the Management Board of QazaqGaz, expressed his optimism that Kazakhstan is on track to become one of the top ten gas-producing countries in the world. He also mentioned that the country will implement new mechanisms to attract investors to explore its vast gas resources.
