Uzbekistan has exported 1.1mn tons of fruits and vegetables during the period of January to July 2023. This figure represents a significant increase of 1.2 times or 153,800 tons compared to the same period in 2022, the Statistics Agency reports.
The primary destinations for Uzbekistan's fruit and vegetable exports include Russia, accounting for 41.8% of the total, followed by Pakistan with 14.6%, Kazakhstan with 12%, and Kyrgyzstan with 9.1%.
In the first seven months of 2023, the value of exported fruits and vegetables reached $672.9mn. This amount reflects a growth of 22.4% compared to the corresponding period in 2022, constituting 4.5% of the overall exports.
The recent review of the Central Bank's monetary policy, published in July, highlighted the potential for fluctuations in the prices of fruits and vegetables due to the severity of the water shortage issue in the region.
