The number of foreign tourists who have visited Kazakhstan has seen a significant increase this summer. As per reports, 250,468 foreigners have stayed in hotels across the country, which is more than triple the number of foreign arrivals during the same period last year, which was 77,645.
Most tourists represent CIS countries, accounting for 72% of the total arrivals.
Besides, there has been an increase in the number of visitors from Mongolia, China, India, the Republic of Korea, Iran, Germany, and the United States, with a significant rise in the figures as compared to last year.
According to the Ministry of Culture and Sports' press service, Almaty has been the most popular destination for tourists, with 77,000 visitors, followed by Astana with 38,000, and Almaty region and Mangistau with 19,049 and 15,062 visitors, respectively.
In early 2023, the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Culture and Sports inked a roadmap stipulating the development of travel programs in a bid to increase the tourism flows.
