Timothy Smart has been appointed as the new British ambassador to Uzbekistan, the official website of the British government reports.
He will assume his role in August 2023, succeeding Tim Torlot, who is concluding his diplomatic assignment in the country. Timothy Smart is married to Dr Veronika Smart and they have two children.
Prior to this appointment, Timothy Smart served as the head of the Eastern Mediterranean Department at the British Foreign Office.
In 2018, Tim Torlot took on the position of British ambassador to Uzbekistan. Before him, Christopher Allan led the British diplomatic mission in Tashkent starting in the autumn of 2015.
