The Ministry of Transport's press service reports that the Tashkent metro has transported a total of 68.5mn passengers during the last five months of 2023. This reflects a growth rate of 33.5% compared to the same period last year, which saw 51.3mn passengers.
In May of this year, the passenger traffic peaked at 15.8mn individuals. Below are the monthly figures in detail:
- January: 10.4mn passengers
- February: 13.7mn passengers
- March: 14.6mn passengers
- April: 14.0mn passengers
The ministry had stated that the rise in public transportation usage in Tashkent was due to the introduction of new buses with greater capacities, such as ultra-large capacity and electric buses.
