Uzbekistan is among the five countries exporting water to Kyrgyzstan, having supplied 63,100 liters of drinking water to the country, Tazabek reports.
In terms of the volume of water imported, Georgia ranks first, providing 156,600 liters. Turkey comes in second place with 145,600 liters, followed by Russia with 137,600 thousand liters.
The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, acknowledged the global water scarcity issue, stating that if the situation with the Toktogul reservoir continues as it is, it could lead to a disastrous state.
Recently, Bishkek has been facing a shortage of irrigation and tap water. The main reason cited by the mayor's office is the depletion of underground lakes due to slow snow melting in the mountains during the early summer.
