In 2021 the administration of the Al-Haram Mosque has announced the launch of a smart robot at the Malik Abdul Aziz Hotel, which will meet pilgrims and give them Zamzam water, Islam.plus reports.
Moreover, Mecca's Sacred Mosque Introduces Multilingual Robot Assistant for Pilgrims.
The robot, operating via Wi-Fi, supports 11 languages, including Arabic, English, French, Russian, Persian, Turkish, Malawi, Urdu, Chinese, Bengali, and Hausa, as reported by About Islam citing Saudi Gazette.
It offers synchronous translation capabilities and can remotely connect with sheikhs to provide guidance and recommendations to pilgrims in multiple languages.
The robot, equipped with a smart stop system and four wheels, allows easy mobility. It features high-resolution cameras for panoramic views, along with high-quality speakers and a microphone.
This advanced technology is not the first of its kind in the Al-Haram Mosque.
Robots were previously developed for sanitary purposes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In December 2021, the Mecca Mosque also introduced an electronic Quran for visually impaired Muslims. These technological advancements align with the Kingdom's development plan for 2024.
