Rosatom is set to sign a significant agreement for the construction of Uzbekistan's inaugural nuclear power plant, as Gennadiy Sakharov, Director of the State Corporation for Capital Investments, State Construction Control, and State Expertise, shares this development, TASS reports.
Sakharov expressed Rosatom's readiness to commence the construction promptly once the Uzbek partners finalize the contract for the first nuclear power plant. Anticipating the project's realization in the near future, he emphasized its significance as the inaugural endeavor of its kind in Uzbekistan.
"We are venturing into countries without an existing nuclear culture or legislation. Additionally, we will establish their nuclear infrastructure, develop legislation, and provide training," - Sakharov stated.
He further revealed that the plan entails constructing two units, each with a capacity of 1200MW.
Earlier in March, Rosatom representatives visited Uzbekistan to discuss matters of cooperation in nuclear physics.
