The western region of Turkmenistan, was rocked by an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 at 9:04 local time, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reports May 31.
The epicentre of the tremor was 10 km deep, about 55 km northeast of Balkanabat, a major regional centre.
Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly as they are closer to the surface.
