Uzbekistan and China have agreed to build renewable energy sources with a total capacity of 6 gigawatts and upgrade existing networks, media reports.
At a business forum in Xi'an, China, Energy China signed contracts for solar photovoltaic power stations in Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions, wind power stations with Universal Energy, and contracts for power network modernization, high-voltage line construction, and new substations with Xian Electric Engineering. In addition, hydropower agreements were made for new projects and financing.
The agreement is expected to bring in around $5-6bn in direct foreign investments.
Earlier this month, Siemens announced plans to build TPPs in Surkhandarya and Navoi, as well as wind and solar energy stations with a capacity of up to 1,000 megawatts.
