In an effort to uphold safety and stability standards for high-rise buildings in Kyrgyzstan, an inter-agency commission has been established that would undertake a comprehensive seismic resistance examination of all such structures over three months. The initiative serves as a direct response to the deadly earthquakes in Syria and Turkiye on February 6, 2023.
Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the country's Cabinet of Ministers, inked the decision to commence the aforementioned audit. A detailed report on the findings is expected upon the completion of the inspections.
The International Association of Experts on Earthquake Engineering (IAEEE) has emphasized the paramount importance of erecting standard buildings exclusively from prefabricated reinforced concrete structures and ensuring that the construction company and architect take full responsibility for the quality of the facilities.
