Residents in the North Kazakhstan region have reported the presence of smoke, and it appears that the reason behind it is the fires raging in Russia's Omsk, Kurgan, and Tyumen regions for several days now, media reports.
The latest reports suggest that the smoke has now spread to the North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and Akmola regions.
At least 18 regions in Russia are affected, with the Kurgan region experiencing 21 fatalities and 13 injuries.
Local authorities and Greenpeace have stated that the fire spreads due to grass burning and unextinguished bonfires.
