Members of Taliban's leadership announced that the practical construction of the railway project linking Central Asian nations with Afghanistan would begin shortly, a reporter of "Daryo" in Afghanistan informs.
The project, which encompasses Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, is intended to facilitate international trade and promote regional connections.
The railway deal was struck in February 2021 to connect the former union republics with South Asia via Kabul. The estimated cost of this 573-kilometer route is $5.96bn.
Earlier this week, the Afghanistan Railway Authority (ARA) reported that initial investigations for a stretch of the rail line across Afghanistan had been conducted.
At a news briefing in Kabul, ARA officials stated that the investigation was carried out in collaboration with technical specialists from Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
This railway route joins Uzbekistan to northern Afghanistan's Mazar-e-Sharif, Kabul, and Pakistan's Peshawar.
