The Pervomaisky District Court of the Kyrgyz Republic extended the ban on rallies in the center of Bishkek, the court's press service reports.
The court ruled that the decision of the local administration to limit the places for peaceful gatherings was legal. According to the decision, the ban will cover 9 public areas of Bishkek. The ban will be in effect until June 30, and peaceful gatherings will be allowed only on Maxim Gorky Square.
The ban on rallies does not apply to state and municipal official events.
The ban on mass demonstrations in the city center was introduced by the mayor's office of the capital of Kyrgyzstan in order to prevent riots. The Pervomaisky court of the capital recognized this decision as legal. Since then, the bans have been extended from time to time.
At the same time in Uzbekistan, according to the Constitution, "citizens have the right to carry out their social activity in the form of rallies, meetings and demonstrations in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The authorities have the right to suspend or prohibit these events only for reasonable security reasons. "
