The decision of the Russian government may significantly change the implementation of the pilot project to attract Uzbeks to the Russian labour market, "Kommersant" reports.
The permit number of labour migrants from Uzbekistan in the construction and agro-industrial complex will be removed which could not exceed 11 000. This is partly due to the shortage of personnel, exacerbated by mobilization.
Medical requirements for those entering the country are also loosened. Now, the workers only have to undergo a medical examination in Uzbekistan by Russian doctors, whose employers will pay for the checkup.
This move is seen as an opportunity to hire workers from Uzbekistan Russian legal entities engaged in economic activity in the light industry included in the list formed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The decision had been made against the background of a record shortage of personnel in the light industry identified by the "Gaidar" Institute of Economic Policy after the partial mobilization due to the war in Ukraine.
