Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov on Thursday (November 10) announced a newly appointed Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
Kubanychbek Omuraliev took up the post of chief administrative officer as Baghdad Amreyev's 3-year-long term of office has concluded.
'We need to strengthen and expand our multilateral relations and increase joint capabilities to overcome threats to sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and sustainable development based on a solid commitment to openness, equality, and mutual respect.
Joint approaches of the OTS member states in these and other key areas are reflected in the organization's strategy for 2022-2026, and we are approving this document today.
The economic criterion of the Turkic world should serve as the locomotive of cooperation and the basis of the well-being of our people. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation relations between our countries' leading industrial enterprises, investment companies, banking, financial institutions, and entrepreneurs to build practical regional cooperation.
Our task lies in implementing hard work in the field of interregional trade.
The volume of mutual trade between our countries is less than 3% ($21 bn) of the total trade volume of the OTS member of more than $970bn.
We all want to increase this figure several times. I am sure we will achieve this goal together, Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister said.
