On July 4, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov received a delegation led by the Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Nuriddin Azizi.
According to the press service of the Ministry, the parties agreed to prepare joint proposals to increase the bilateral trade turnover and increase the volume of cargo transportation through the territories of the two countries. Plus, the Uzbek and Afghan business circles will have more opportunities to explore the potential of a mutually beneficial partnership.
As part of the dialogue, the participants discussed the necessary measures for the implementation of the Trans-Afghan railway Termiz-Mazari Sharif-Kabul-Peshowar project by organizing field research along the railway route in the upcoming weeks.
The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to continue providing humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and to develop cooperation with Afghanistan in priority areas.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue continuous communication to discuss and solve current issues of Uzbek-Afghan relations.
The international conference on Afghanistan will be held in Tashkent on July 25-26 bringing together delegations of more than 20 countries and international organizations.
