Tajikistan has increased its production of industrial goods significantly in 2024. For the first nine months of the year, industrial output reached TJS 36bn ($3.4bn), reflecting an increase of 15.3% compared to the same period last year. This growth has been particularly pronounced in the mining sector, which has played a crucial role in driving the overall industrial performance.
In addition to industrial advancements, the agricultural sector also reported substantial growth during the same timeframe. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, total agricultural production for the first nine months of 2024 amounted to TJS 52.2bn ($4.9bn), marking an 11.4% rise year-on-year. This progress is attributed to comprehensive measures implemented to enhance agricultural development and ensure food security throughout the country.
Crop production, a key component of Tajikistan's agricultural landscape, experienced significant gains, with production valued at TJS 39.1bn ($3.7bn), up 11.9% from the previous year. The increase in grain crop production, which rose by 6.2%, along with a remarkable 16.5% boost in potato yields, indicates improvements in agricultural technology and expanded sown areas. Fruit and grape production soared by 20.1% and 32.6%, respectively, highlighting the successful adoption of modern horticultural techniques.
Livestock farming also contributed to the agricultural sector's growth, with total production reaching TJS 13.1bn ($1.2bn), an increase of 9.8% from last year. This steady rise in milk production (up by 5%) and meat (up by 5.6%) reflects successful efforts to enhance livestock numbers and modernize farming practices. The population of cattle grew by 4.6%, while the number of sheep and goats increased by 7.3%. Such improvements signify structural changes within the agricultural sector, positioning Tajikistan for continued economic progress.
