Uzbekistan returned 11 children left without parental care from Russia and Kazakhstan last week, including nine from Russia and two from Kazakhstan, as part of efforts to bring Uzbek minors back from abroad and ensure their reintegration into families.
The children were returned by a working group following efforts to repatriate minors who had been left without parental care in foreign countries. The operation involved representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health and National Agency for Social Protection, with support from the Children’s Ombudsman and cooperation with the competent authorities of the respective countries.
Measures are being taken to protect the returned children’s rights and legitimate interests, return them to a family environment and provide them with the necessary social services and assistance.
Following their return, the children’s circumstances and adjustment to their families will be monitored through social support provided by “Inson” Social Services Centers in their respective places of residence. The centers will continue to provide social accompaniment to help ensure the children’s adaptation and access to necessary support.
It was earlier reported that Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency repatriated 2,888 citizens who faced difficult circumstances abroad during January–July 2026, spending UZS 9.936bn ($833,000) from the Migration Fund on transportation, medical care and other necessary assistance.
