Tourist arrivals to Uzbekistan increased by nearly 30% year-on-year in the first four months of 2026, reaching more than 4.04mn visitors, according to the National Statistics Committee. During the first quarter, 721 people also moved to the country for permanent residence, with most arrivals coming from Russia and Kazakhstan.
Official data showed that 4.05mn foreign tourists traveled to Uzbekistan between January and April, up by 930,800 visitors, or 29.9%, year-on-year.
Kyrgyzstan accounted for the largest number of visitors with more than 1.14mn arrivals, followed by Tajikistan with 965,488 visitors and Kazakhstan with 935,003.
Russia ranked fourth with 341,842 visitors, while Afghanistan accounted for 161,537 arrivals. China, Turkmenistan, Turkiye, India and South Korea also ranked among the top sources of inbound tourism.
Permanent migration
The statistics agency also reported that 721 people moved to Uzbekistan for permanent residence during the first quarter of 2026.
Russia accounted for the largest share of new permanent residents at 34.1%, followed by Kazakhstan with 19.7% and Tajikistan with 12.2%.
Smaller shares came from Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and other countries.
Most new arrivals settled in Tashkent city, which received 454 permanent migrants during the January–March period. Tashkent region ranked second with 126 arrivals, followed by Karakalpakstan with 56.
Smaller numbers of migrants settled in Samarkand, Fergana, Khorezm, Syrdarya, Navoi, Bukhara, Andijan, Jizzakh, Namangan, Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions.
The figures come as Uzbekistan continues efforts to expand tourism, simplify travel procedures and strengthen regional connectivity across Central Asia.
