Japan’s Nagaoka University of Technology has opened a representative office at Tashkent State Technical University in Tashkent, marking a new step in Uzbekistan–Japan cooperation in higher education, science and innovation.
The opening ceremony was held on August 7 and was attended by Japan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Kenji Hirata, JICA Uzbekistan Office Director Kan Sakai, Nagaoka University of Technology President Shigeharu Kamado, the university’s Vice President for International Strategy Yukio Miyashita and Tashkent State Technical University Rector Sadriddin Turabjanov.
Before the opening ceremony, representatives of the two universities discussed the current state and future prospects of their cooperation at the Uzbekistan–Japan Youth Innovation Center at Tashkent State Technical University.
The discussions focused on academic exchanges for students and faculty, joint educational programs, scientific research, international grant projects and the development of innovation activities. The two universities subsequently signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The Nagaoka University of Technology representative office was then officially opened at Tashkent State Technical University. The ceremony included a ribbon-cutting by representatives of the two universities, the Japanese Embassy and JICA.
The delegation also visited the Japan Career Academy operating at Tashkent State Technical University and met with students. Miyashita and Tashkent State Technical University's Vice Rector for International Affairs and Innovation Shavkat Azimov also delivered presentations on academic mobility, joint research and future areas of cooperation.
The new representative office is expected to support expanded cooperation between the two universities, including joint educational and research projects, academic mobility and innovation initiatives. The initiative is also expected to contribute to the broader development of Uzbekistan–Japan cooperation in higher education, science and technology.
Nagaoka University of Technology is a Japanese university specializing in engineering and technology education and research. Its cooperation with Tashkent State Technical University is focused on strengthening technical education, research and innovation links between Uzbekistan and Japan.
Earlier, Uzbekistan and Russia’s Bauman Moscow State Technical University also discussed preparations for launching the university’s branch in Tashkent.
