Uzbekistan is advancing preparations to launch a branch of Russia’s Bauman Moscow State Technical University, with officials discussing admissions for the 2026/27 academic year, the development of a modern campus in New Tashkent and broader cooperation in engineering education.
Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Sardor Rajabov met with a delegation from Bauman Moscow State Technical University led by Anton Yegorov, the university’s director for international activities.
The sides discussed key issues related to the university’s planned branch in Uzbekistan, including preparations for its launch and the organization of admissions for the 2026/27 academic year.
They also reviewed preparations for the construction of a modern campus in New Tashkent, which is expected to support the development of engineering education and joint academic initiatives.
Particular attention was given to attracting talented young people to engineering fields, improving the quality of training for highly qualified engineering specialists and implementing joint educational projects.
The participants also discussed organizing a ceremony to mark the start of campus construction and outlined further practical steps for developing the branch and strengthening Uzbekistan-Russia cooperation in higher engineering education. At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides agreed to continue practical cooperation to implement the planned initiatives.
Earlier, Uzbekistan and Japan signed an agreement to establish a joint university in Tashkent that will offer English-language programs in artificial intelligence, digital transformation and business administration. The university is expected to begin admitting students to master’s programs in the 2028/29 academic year.
The initiative is part of Uzbekistan’s broader efforts to expand international education partnerships, develop joint programs with leading foreign universities and increase access to globally recognized qualifications. The country also plans to establish a specialized higher education institution and an international university town as student enrollment reaches approximately 1.7mn.
