Uzbekistan's Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kongratbay Sharipov and UK-based educational technology company Efekta signed a memorandum of cooperation to expand AI-powered English language learning across the country's higher education system.
The agreement followed discussions on improving English language teaching through artificial intelligence and modern digital learning technologies.
The meeting focused on enhancing the quality of English language instruction in Uzbekistan's universities by introducing modern digital learning technologies and AI-based educational solutions.
Officials also discussed expanding long-term strategic cooperation in English language education.
The agreement follows a pilot project implemented between March and June 2026 in vocational education institutions using the Efekta platform.
During the pilot, more than 3,770 teachers and students received free access to the platform. According to the ministry, 77 participants successfully advanced to the next CEFR English proficiency level and were awarded certificates.
Under the newly signed memorandum, Uzbekistan will launch a pilot program to provide English language instruction to university faculty members and students through the Efekta platform.
Efekta is a UK-based international educational platform offering English language instruction across all CEFR proficiency levels from A1 to C2. The platform uses artificial intelligence to personalize language learning and assess users' English proficiency.
