President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation on June 24, during which they discussed the further development of bilateral relations and regional cooperation, according to Uzbekistan's presidential press service.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. They also highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between the presidential administrations of both countries to ensure the implementation of existing agreements and the advancement of new joint initiatives.
The conversation followed a visit by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, to Astana on June 21, where she held meetings with President Tokayev and senior Kazakh officials.
During the meeting, Tokayev stated that the visit contributed to strengthening cooperation between the two countries and emphasized the role of presidential administrations in supporting bilateral relations. He noted that closer coordination between government institutions could support regional stability and cooperation in Central Asia.
The Kazakh president also discussed ongoing reforms and development priorities in Kazakhstan. He noted that 2026 has been designated as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Kazakhstan and referred to Uzbekistan's progress in digital transformation and artificial intelligence initiatives.
"The world is rapidly moving toward the development of artificial intelligence, and we must be prepared to keep pace with the current era," Tokayev said.
Saida Mirziyoyeva stated that President Mirziyoyev places vital importance on strengthening cooperation with Kazakhstan and closely monitors the implementation of bilateral agreements and joint projects.
She also noted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan continue to cooperate on issues related to regional stability and development in Central Asia.
During her visit, Mirziyoyeva met with Roman Sklyar, Head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan. The parties discussed mechanisms to improve coordination between the presidential administrations and facilitate the implementation of agreements reached by the two countries' leaders.
She also held talks with Yerlan Karin, State Counselor of Kazakhstan. Discussions focused on long-term partnership priorities, including cultural cooperation, youth engagement, and collaboration in technology-related sectors.
In addition, Mirziyoyeva visited the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), where she reviewed Kazakhstan's experience in developing an international financial hub. She noted that the experience could be relevant for Uzbekistan's plans to establish the Tashkent International Financial Center.
