Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov held talks with China’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yu Jun to discuss priority areas for expanding the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership, press service of Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the current state of Uzbek-Chinese relations and noted continued progress in political dialogue, interregional cooperation, and collaboration across multiple sectors. The discussions covered developments in bilateral relations at the highest and senior levels, as well as the implementation of previously agreed initiatives.
The parties noted that bilateral cooperation is based on mutual respect, trust, equality, and support for each other’s core interests.
Particular attention was given to the outcomes of the eighth meeting of the Uzbekistan-China Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, which was held in Beijing on May 7, 2026. During that session, both sides agreed on specific measures to deepen cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, transport and logistics, energy, and cultural and humanitarian fields.
At the meeting in Tashkent, the officials discussed the implementation of joint infrastructure projects, the expansion of trade and investment, and efforts to strengthen regional connectivity. They also reviewed opportunities for cooperation in high technologies, agriculture, security, and poverty reduction.
The two sides confirmed their intention to expand humanitarian exchanges and cooperation among regional administrations, universities, research institutions, and media organizations.
China reiterated its support for Uzbekistan’s socio-economic reform agenda under the “New Uzbekistan” strategy and expressed readiness to continue assisting with its implementation.
Uzbekistan reaffirmed its support for the One China principle and stated that it recognizes the government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government representing China. The Uzbek side also expressed support for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and for efforts aimed at achieving national reunification.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties confirmed their readiness to maintain close coordination on current issues of the bilateral agenda.
