Uzbekistan is accelerating its digital economy strategy with a new IT Park complex in Fergana aimed at generating $30mn in IT exports, creating 700 jobs, and training over 3,000 young specialists annually, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence and digital skills.
During a visit to the region, Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the newly established IT Park facility, built with UZS 150bn ($12mn) in public investment following instructions issued in August 2024.
The complex is designed to accommodate up to 200 users at a time and integrates education, production, and service delivery within a single ecosystem. It provides modern coworking spaces for freelancers and fully equipped offices for resident companies, supporting both startups and established businesses.
The project reflects rapid growth in the region’s IT sector. In recent years, IT services in Fergana have expanded fourfold, with exports exceeding $23mn. The number of IT Park residents has reached 139 companies, with $22.7mn in exports recorded in 2025.
Under the new expansion plan, the number of resident companies is expected to increase to 200, while service volumes and export capacity are set to grow significantly.
The complex will also host an artificial intelligence hub, focusing on digitalizing management systems and developing advanced technological solutions. Training programs will cover AI, programming, graphic design, computer literacy, and English language skills.
To support innovation, the center will introduce venture financing, grants, and acceleration programs for startups, creating a more dynamic and supportive ecosystem for young entrepreneurs.
The president met with IT Park residents and young professionals, expressing support for their initiatives and emphasizing the importance of expanding opportunities for youth employment and innovation.
Alongside digital development, attention is also being given to sports infrastructure in the region. The president visited the football center under the Fergana Regional Football Association and the Neftchi Football Academy.
Fergana has a strong football tradition, with the FC Neftchi Fergana being a six-time national champion, a two-time cup winner, and a Super Cup winner, as well as a finalist of the CIS Cup and a bronze medalist in the Asian Champions League in the mid-1990s.
The newly established academy, launched in 2025, covers more than 4.5 hectares and is designed to train over 150 young players. It includes six football fields, modern medical and rehabilitation facilities, and a $1.1mn indoor football arena with artificial turf and an air-supported dome.
International expertise is also being integrated into the program, with UEFA instructors and foreign specialists involved in training and talent development.
During the visit, the president observed training sessions and interacted with young players, highlighting the importance of creating modern conditions for both education and sports development.
