A total of UZS 14bn ($1.2mn) will be allocated for road repair works across Tashkent, according to a resolution signed on April 17 by Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov.
Under the document, the funding will be drawn from the city development fund under the khokimiyat and directed through specialized departments responsible for the use, maintenance, and repair of central streets, as well as district-level improvement units.
The allocation will be distributed evenly among the capital’s districts, with each of Bektemir, Mirabad, Mirzo Ulugbek, Sergeli, Almazor, Shaykhontohur, Yashnabad, Chilonzor, Uchtepa, Yunusabad, Yakkasaroy, and Yangihayot receiving UZS 1bn ($82,265). An additional UZS 2bn ($164,529) will be assigned to the department overseeing the maintenance and repair of central streets.
The resolution stipulates that targeted and efficient use of the funds must be ensured. District councils of people’s deputies will report to the Tashkent City Council and the khokimiyat on the progress of the works. Relevant departments have been tasked with financing and oversight.
Responsibility for monitoring the implementation of the resolution has been assigned to Bakhtiyor Rahmonov, First Deputy Mayor for Construction, Barrier-Free Environment Development, Communications, Ecology, and Greening.
In 2025, the city authorities allocated UZS 12bn ($987,179) for similar road repair works, with each district receiving UZS 1bn ($82,265).
