Kazakhstan has exported products to Saudi Arabia for the first time using a domestically issued halal certificate, marking a breakthrough in its access to global halal markets.
The certification was issued by KazStandard and officially recognized by authorities in Saudi Arabia, allowing Kazakh products to enter one of the world’s most regulated halal markets.
KazStandard is currently the only national body in Kazakhstan accredited by the Saudi Halal Center under the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. These institutions oversee product compliance with both Sharia requirements and international standards, and their approval is mandatory for halal exports to the kingdom.
With this recognition, Kazakhstan joins the group of countries whose halal certificates are officially accepted in Saudi Arabia, removing a key barrier to market entry.
Support for export promotion has also been provided by the Association of Agricultural Producers and Exporters of Kazakhstan, which develops international partnerships and operates through trade offices in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Uzbekistan.
Saudi Arabia is considered one of the most demanding halal markets globally and serves as a gateway to the wider Gulf region. Access to this market is expected to help Kazakh companies expand export geography, strengthen trust among international partners, and enhance the country’s position as a halal product supplier.
Officials noted that the achievement reflects coordinated efforts between the government, industry institutions, and the private sector.
