President Shavkat Mirziyoyev conducted an inspection on March 18 of an enterprise in the Narpay district, part of the Marokand Sifat cluster, which operates on a zero-waste principle and integrates multiple stages of cotton processing and garment production.
The Marokand Sifat cluster has developed a complete value chain encompassing cotton cultivation, deep processing, and the manufacture of finished products. Projects totaling $25mn have been implemented within the cluster, covering seed production, oil extraction, fiber and yarn processing, and the production of finished garments. This integrated approach allows for the creation of high value-added products and strengthens the cluster’s presence in both domestic and international markets.
The enterprise has an annual production capacity of 5,500 tons of yarn and 1mn finished knitted garments, representing an estimated export potential of $10mn. The cluster also contributes to local employment, providing 1,000 permanent jobs and an additional 3,000 seasonal positions.
A key component of the enterprise is its recycling of textile waste. Remnants of used fabrics from sewing workshops are reprocessed into yarn using high-speed equipment, with a fiber production capacity of 5,000 tons per year. This practice supports efficient resource use and environmental sustainability. The project has a total investment of $7mn and occupies a 3.3-hectare site, employing 500 permanent workers.
The enterprise incorporates energy-saving technologies, including the installation of solar panels, enabling the use of renewable energy, reducing production costs, and promoting green economy principles. A biolaboratory and sewing workshops operate within the project, with a focus on waste processing and sustainable production methods.
During his visit, President Mirziyoyev reviewed the production process and engaged with workers in the sewing workshop. He emphasized the importance of job creation and noted that projects like this are part of broader economic transformations aimed at increasing employment opportunities and fostering regional development.
