Uzbekistan topped the overall standings at the prestigious “Stranja” International Boxing Tournament held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from February 22 to March 1, finishing first in the medal table with 17 medals.
Both the men’s and women’s national teams delivered strong performances. The men’s squad secured 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals, while the women’s team achieved an even higher result with 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, ensuring Uzbekistan’s dominance in the overall team ranking.
Gold medals were won by Fazliddin Erkinboev (-75 kg), Akmaljon Isroilov (-85 kg) and Turabek Khabibullaev (-90 kg) in the men’s categories, as well as Sabina Bobokulova (-48 kg), Nigina Uktamova (-57 kg), Navbahor Hamidova (-65 kg) and Aziza Zokirova (-75 kg) in the women’s divisions.
Silver medals went to Javokhir Ummataliev (-80 kg), Ozodbek Aliev (+90 kg), Feruza Kazakova (-51 kg) and Oltinoy Sotimboyeva (+90 kg).
Bronze medalists included Asilbek Jalilov (-50 kg), Shavkatjon Boltaev (-70 kg), Norbek Abdullayev (-85 kg), Samir Sobirov (-90 kg), Farzona Fozilova (-48 kg) and Rukhshona Parpiyeva (-80 kg).
With 17 medals overall, Uzbekistan claimed first place in the team standings. Kazakhstan finished second with 9 medals, while Ukraine rounded out the top three.
In January, Uzbek boxer Israil Madrimov defeated Luis David Salazar by unanimous decision in a 10-round super welterweight bout in Las Vegas.
Earlier, Uzbekistan finished third overall at the 2025 IBA World Boxing Championships in Dubai, winning nine medals — including two gold — with two boxers crowned world champions.
