President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan met with Zou Jiayi, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), during her visit to the country, as per to Khovar.
During the meeting, Emomali Rahmon congratulated Zou Jiayi on her election as president of the AIIB and noted that this was her first visit to Tajikistan in that capacity. The discussion focused on the current state of cooperation and the Bank’s role in supporting Tajikistan’s socioeconomic development priorities.
The AIIB was described as one of Tajikistan’s key partners in infrastructure development and in advancing sustainable and green growth initiatives. The parties reviewed progress on priority investment projects, including the construction of the Roghun hydropower plant and the continued reconstruction of the Norak hydropower plant.
They also discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in energy, transport, and urban infrastructure, as well as in water resources management, climate change adaptation, digitalization, and energy efficiency. The importance of securing long-term financing, improving project implementation mechanisms, and strengthening institutional capacity was highlighted.
Both sides reaffirmed their intention to further develop long-term cooperation between Tajikistan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
Earlier Daryo reported that AIIB financing for Uzbekistan reached $1bn in 2025.
