President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), led by its president, Zou Jiayi, as per to the presidential press service on February 10.
At the start of the meeting, President Mirziyoyev congratulated Zou Jiayi on her recent appointment as head of the AIIB. The discussion focused on practical measures to expand the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the multilateral financial institution.
Officials reviewed the progress of ongoing cooperation, noting that in recent years, multifaceted collaboration between Uzbekistan and the AIIB has developed notably. The portfolio of implemented and prospective projects with the bank has exceeded $7bn, with financing in 2025 alone surpassing $1bn.
During the meeting, President Mirziyoyev highlighted priority areas for future collaboration, including support for the private sector, women’s and youth entrepreneurship, preparation and promotion of public-private partnership projects, implementation of poverty reduction programs, development of alternative energy, energy efficiency, water supply, and other social sector initiatives. He also stressed the importance of AIIB participation in large-scale infrastructure projects of regional significance.
Zou Jiayi acknowledged the scale of ongoing reforms and transformations in Uzbekistan and confirmed the AIIB’s readiness to continue providing comprehensive support for the country’s development programs and reform initiatives.
