Tajikistan produced industrial output worth TJS 66.7bn ($7.1bn) in 2025, marking an increase of TJS 13.3bn ($1.4bn) compared to 2024, as the country ranked first among CIS states in industrial growth, Asia-Plus reported, citing Industry and New Technologies Minister Sherali Kabir.
Speaking at a press conference on February 11, Kabir stated that Tajikistan outpaced Kyrgyzstan by 10% in terms of industrial growth rates. Other CIS countries — including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus — recorded lower growth rates, while Azerbaijan and Belarus reportedly showed negative figures.
The mining sector remains the largest contributor to Tajikistan’s industrial structure, accounting for 40.3% of total output. It is followed by the food industry (18.6%), electricity generation (17.2%), mechanical engineering (7.9%) and construction materials production (6.2%).
Particular emphasis was placed on growth in the processing industry, which made up 51.8% of total industrial production. Within this segment, chemical production increased by 26.1%, rubber and plastic manufacturing rose by 21.1%, food production grew by 16.1%, textile and garment manufacturing expanded by 14.4%, and pharmaceuticals recorded growth of 10.6%, Asia-Plus reported.
Officials described the results as evidence of accelerating industrial diversification and stronger performance across manufacturing sectors in 2025.
The strong performance follows the commissioning of around 400 new industrial enterprises in 2025, contributing to a 22% increase in industrial output, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. Over the past seven years, more than 2,600 industrial facilities have been launched nationwide, creating over 87,000 jobs and supporting broader industrial expansion.
