Tashkent has started issuing resident parking permits under new paid parking rules, allowing city residents to use paid parking spaces near their homes free of charge overnight, according to city authorities.
The permits are issued online via the my.gov.uz portal, are free of charge, and are valid for one year. Holders of a resident permit can park in designated paid parking zones in their area without payment from 20:00 to 08:00.
Under the current rules, one permit is issued per vehicle, while no more than two permits can be registered per household address.
The new system was introduced under a decision signed by the Tashkent city mayor on December 25, 2025, which established resident status for citizens living in or adjacent to paid parking zones. The regulations officially entered into force on February 1, 2026.
Authorities also plan to approve a separate administrative regulation governing the issuance and monitoring of resident parking permits. Oversight of the system’s implementation has been assigned to the Tashkent city administration.
The resident permit system forms part of broader efforts to manage traffic congestion and reorganize urban parking in Tashkent. City authorities are also preparing new traffic schemes on several streets to improve traffic flow and public transport efficiency.
In parallel, further infrastructure projects are underway, including the construction of new metro stations, tram lines, and a bridge connecting Tashkent with New Tashkent, with several projects scheduled for completion by 2027.
