President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a high-level delegation of leading Saudi companies led by Mohammad Abunayyan, co-chairman of the Uzbek–Saudi Business Council and head of ACWA Power, to review progress on joint projects and outline new areas of cooperation.
During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to further expand practical collaboration and accelerate priority initiatives. President Mirziyoyev noted with satisfaction the strong momentum in Uzbekistan’s partnership with ACWA Power, describing the company as a strategic investor driving the country’s green energy transformation.
Earlier in the day, Uzbekistan and ACWA Power launched several major renewable energy projects. Four new wind power plants with a combined capacity of 752 MW were officially connected to the national grid.
Construction also began on five additional power plants with a total capacity of 2.3 GW, along with 300 MW of energy storage systems in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Bukhara region.
Work has also commenced on a 500 kV transmission line spanning 1,790 kilometers, designed to strengthen power connectivity between Samarkand and Tashkent regions, as well as between Karakalpakstan and Bukhara.
The meeting also highlighted plans to deepen cooperation beyond energy. Both sides emphasized expanding joint initiatives in transport and logistics infrastructure, IT development, healthcare, agriculture, and other key sectors of the Uzbek economy.
