As part of his working visit to Washington D.C., President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Shilpan Amin, Global Executive Director of General Motors International.

During the meeting, both sides discussed further expansion of long-term cooperation between Uzbekistan and the global automotive corporation.

The importance of General Motors International in supporting the growth and diversification of the country’s automotive industry was highlighted.

Over the past five years, General Motors has produced 1.6mn vehicles, with Uzbekistan becoming the second-largest market for the Chevrolet brand after the United States, and the leader in sales across Central Asia and the CIS.

The discussion also focused on the development of production cooperation, expanding the range of locally manufactured products, and deepening localization efforts.

Additionally, the parties explored prospects for joint projects in new technologies and raw materials critical to modern mechanical engineering.
