The delegation of Uzbekistan participated in the inaugural Hamburg Stability conference held in Germany on October 7. This event gathered approximately 1,600 participants from over 100 countries, including experts from government, science, business, civil society, and international organizations, all focused on addressing contemporary global challenges.
The primary objective of the conference was to foster initiatives aimed at accelerating the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, a commitment embraced by nations worldwide.
A notable highlight of the conference was a meeting between Christiane Laibach, a member of the executive board of the KfW Development Bank, and Jamshid Kuchkarov, Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance. Joining them were Stephan Opitz, another member of KfW's executive board, Umid Abidhadjaev, director of the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies, and other key representatives.
KfW Development Bank has played a pivotal role in supporting the German federal government’s development policy and international cooperation goals for more than six decades. During the discussions, participants focused on various crucial topics, including sustainable economic growth, budget support for the upcoming years, and improvements in education, employment, healthcare, and social protection systems. The meeting also emphasized green growth initiatives and explored financial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany, particularly regarding enhancements in the energy sector.
In a significant outcome of the meeting, an agreement was signed between the Government of Uzbekistan and the KfW Development Bank to support the state budget under the "Social and Green Growth" program. This agreement aims to bolster financial resources for sustainable development initiatives in Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to developing and strengthening mutually beneficial relations, ensuring continuous cooperation in the area of budget support. The conference not only facilitated discussions but also set the stage for collaborative efforts towards achieving sustainable development goals in Uzbekistan.
