During a recent visit to the North Kazakhstan region, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture, Aidarbek Saparov, held a meeting with local agricultural leaders, government agencies, and financial institutions to review the region's harvest progress and plan for the upcoming agricultural season.
The minister announced that 93.2% of the country’s grain crops, covering 15.5mn hectares, have been harvested, with 23.5mn tons of grain threshed so far at an average yield of 15.2 centners per hectare (c/ha). In the North Kazakhstan region alone, 5.6mn tons of grain were harvested from 90.5% of the region's sown area, with a yield of 17.8 c/ha.
The government has played a key role in supporting farmers this season. Aidarbek Saparov highlighted a record-breaking KZT 580bn ($1.3bn) in preferential lending provided this year, alongside KZT 120bn ($247.8mn) allocated for leasing agricultural machinery. This support will continue, with plans to increase financing for spring fieldwork and harvesting to KZT 900bn ($1.86bn) next year, including KZT 200bn ($413.1mn) dedicated to machinery leasing.
Farmers across the region expressed their gratitude for state support, noting its critical role in achieving this year’s record harvest. The minister urged agricultural producers to focus on completing the harvest, especially in regions where progress has been slower, and to ensure the proper storage of the harvested grain.
In addition to his meetings, the minister visited key agricultural enterprises, including the Betege-U elevator and the Mitronin and Chistovsky farms, where he reviewed grain processing and storage practices. The farmers reported strong yields for wheat, oilseeds, and rapeseed, and expressed optimism for the coming year with continued government support.
The Ministry of Agriculture plans to expand its financial support and implement new approaches to sustain growth in Kazakhstan's agro-industrial sector, ensuring that farmers receive the necessary resources to meet future challenges.
