On September 9, 2024, at the Pentagon, General Charles Q. Brown, Jr., Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov. This meeting was reported by the official U.S. government website.
The two military leaders addressed a range of security issues, including enhanced coordination to counter terrorist threats such as ISIS-K, as well as opportunities for regional cooperation.
General Brown expressed his appreciation to Khalmukhamedov for hosting the 2023 U.S. Central Command Central Asia Chiefs of Defense Conference and welcomed Uzbekistan's commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the United States.
The United States is committed to working with Uzbekistan to ensure regional stability and uphold the sovereignty of each Central Asian country.
