New Turkish visa application center opens in Tajikistan
Turkiye officially opened a new visa application center in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, according to an announcement from the Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe on its official Facebook page. This new center will handle all visa applications for Turkiye starting August 5, as the Embassy will no longer accept such applications directly.
The visa application center is located at the Sozidaniye Business Center, 48 Ayni Street, Dushanbe. The center will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Applicants can submit their visa applications during these hours without needing to schedule an appointment in advance.
This development follows the end of a visa exemption policy for Tajik citizens traveling to Turkiye. Since 2018, Tajik nationals had been able to visit Turkiye for up to 90 days without a visa. However, this exemption was abolished on April 20, 2024, following a decision by Turkish authorities to reintroduce a visa requirement.
The decision to end the visa exemption for Tajik nationals was published on April 6, 2024, in a decree by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This move was part of a broader policy change affecting ordinary passport holders of Tajikistan.
In response, Tajikistan also imposed a visa requirement for Turkish citizens holding general passports from April 20, 2024. This reciprocal measure was enacted as part of Tajikistan's commitment to implementing the principle of reciprocity in international travel agreements.
