In the first six months of 2024, Uzbekistan's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 6.4%. Under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a critical meeting of video selectors commenced, focusing on the nation's economic performance and outlining future tasks.
The meeting highlighted substantial growth, with the industrial sector rising by 7.8%, the construction sector surging by 10.1%, and the services sector achieving a remarkable 12.9% increase. The agriculture sector also maintained steady progress with a 3.8% growth.
The meeting underscored a significant boost in budget revenues, which soared by 14%, amounting to UZS 113 trillion (approximately USD 9.8 bn). This fiscal uplift demonstrates the effectiveness of the government's economic policies and fiscal management.
In aggregate, the added value generated within the republic since the beginning of the year reached an impressive UZS 567.4 trillion (approximately USD 49 bn). This figure represents an increase of UZS 94 trillion (approximately USD 8.1 bn) compared to the same period last year, underscoring the robust economic expansion.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of sustaining this momentum and outlined strategic initiatives to further enhance economic performance. The discussions also focused on identifying potential challenges and devising comprehensive plans to address them.
