Uzbekistan implements 15 days visa-free entry for Termez FTZ
Uzbekistan has implemented a new visa-free regime allowing foreign citizens to enter the Termez Free Trade Zone without a visa for up to 15 days. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sanctioned new measures to advance the International Trade Center in Termez, as per a decree published on Lex.uz on May 14.
Entrepreneurs at the center can now hire foreign nationals and stateless individuals, including Afghans, based solely on employment contracts, without needing to confirm the right to work in Uzbekistan. Afghan and Pakistani citizens can also rent and own shops, service, and production facilities within the center. The land associated with these properties will be leased to them.
The Termez Free Trade Zone will accept payments in various foreign currencies, including US dollars, euros, Chinese yuan, and Russian rubles. Legal entities in the center can receive these payments through commercial bank branches.
Foreign citizens can enter the center visa-free and stay for up to 15 days. Additionally, patients at the on-site medical clinic will be eligible for medical entry visas if necessary.
Goods bought at the center can be imported into Uzbekistan after paying customs duties, as duty-free import and VAT refund rules do not apply. A bus service from Mazar-i-Sharif in Afghanistan to the center will be launched, and a specialized customs post will be established at the Termez International Trade Center.
