The head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, conducted a practical visit to the Surkhandarya region, the regional government's press service reported on March 27.
Upon his arrival at the Termiz international airport, Minnikhanov was received by local authorities, headed by the Governor of Surkhandarya region, Ulugbek Kasimov. The delegation then proceeded to visit the mausoleum of Al-Hakim al-Tirmizi, a prominent scholar of the Islamic world known for his expertise in hadith science, where Quranic verses were recited.
During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to familiarize themselves with the operations of the free economic zone, logistics centers, and production facilities. They will also explore historical sites in the oasis and engage in discussions regarding potential areas of cooperation.
Past engagements between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan include meetings between Mayor Davron Hidoyatov of Chirchik, Tashkent region, and Chairman Minnikhanov in September 2023. Additionally, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Chairman Minnikhanov during an official visit to Russia in October of the same year, where agreements were made to advance partnership projects based on joint "roadmaps."
