The Uzbekistan national football team secured a 2-0 victory against Hong Kong on March 21, in a match crucial for their World Cup-2026 qualification campaign.
The first half of the game saw no goals, although Uzbekistan's Eldor Shomurodov appeared to score early on, only for the referee to disallow the goal due to a perceived foul.
However, Uzbekistan quickly gained momentum in the second half, with Eldor Shomurodov finding the back of the net in the 49th minute to open the scoring. This was followed by Rustam Ashurmatov extending the lead with another goal in the 66th minute.
Despite concerted efforts from both sides, the score remained unchanged for the remainder of the match, resulting in a 2-0 victory for Uzbekistan.
With this win, the team managed by Srecko Katanec accumulated 7 points in Group E of the World Cup-2026 qualification tournament.
