On March 14, in Bengaluru, a woman from Uzbekistan, identified as Zareena, was found killed in her hotel room. On Thursday, the incident was reported by the local police. Four days before the event, Zareena arrived in Bengaluru on a tourist visa and was living at a hotel close to the BDA Bridge.
After receiving a call from one of Zareena's friends, the hotel staff decided to check on her at 10.30 p.m. (GMT+5:30) on March 13. When they knocked on the door several times without getting a response, they eventually used a master key to enter the room and found Zareena's dead body on the floor with blood all over her face. They called the police right away.
Based on preliminary police investigations, it appears that Zareena was the victim of a homicide. Her body had signs of a physical attack, including cuts on her face. Zareena may have been choked according to the authorities, however, this hasn't been verified.
The room in which Zareena was found had been booked under the name of Rahul Kumar until March 16. The police are currently investigating this lead. Gaurav Kumar Singh, the hotel manager, lodged a formal police complaint in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing.
Interestingly, in January of last year, two bodies—one of whom was an Uzbek citizen—were found dead at a private resort on Delhi Road in the Sonipat district. Abdullaeva Makhliyo, 32, of Uzbekistan, and Himanshu, 26, of Ashok Vihar, Delhi, were identified as the persons involved.
The police said that on January 21 night, Himanshu and Makhliyo arrived at the resort. They were found killed the following morning.
The police discovered Himanshu's body to be fully naked and Makhliyo's body to be half-dressed when they arrived at the site. The remains were moved right away for the autopsy to the Sonipat Civil Hospital. According to preliminary theories, suffocation from a room heater may have been the cause of death.
