The oldest French company, Eiffage, renowned for its iconic projects such as the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty, is set to undertake the construction of a €123.2mn water supply system project in Kashkadarya, Uzbekistan.
The mayor of the Kashkadarya region engaged in discussions with representatives of Eiffage to finalize the details of the venture. The centerpiece of the project entails the construction of a main water pipeline stretching 82 kilometers in the Yakkabog - Karshi direction. Additionally, the initiative includes the establishment of four reservoirs, each with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters, further enhancing the region's water infrastructure.
The implementation of this endeavor aligns with a presidential decree issued in 2022, underlining Uzbekistans government's commitment to modernizing critical infrastructure and improving access to essential services for its citizens.
Eiffage, a stalwart in the construction industry with roots dating back to the 19th century, brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the table. Over its illustrious history, the company has collaborated with prominent engineers and undertaken projects of immense scale and complexity, leaving an indelible mark on architectural and engineering landscapes worldwide.
In November 2023, French company Voltalia, a frontrunner in renewable energy solutions, cemented agreements with the government of Uzbekistan to spearhead two green energy projects. The formal signing of these agreements took place against the backdrop of the Uzbek-French business forum, marking a resolute step towards the region's sustainable energy evolution.

One of these ventures, the Shurkul Hybrid Power Plant, near Navoi, holds promise in reshaping Uzbekistan's energy landscape. With a total capacity of 400 MW, the project integrates a 200 MW wind farm and a 200 MW solar photovoltaic farm, supplemented by a state-of-the-art 60 MW battery storage system.
The second project, the Sarymay Power Plant in the Khorezm region, underscores Voltalia's commitment to innovation and efficiency. Originally conceived as a 100 MW solar power plant, it has since evolved into a comprehensive setup comprising a 123 MW solar photovoltaic plant, a 100 MW wind farm, and an advanced battery storage system, poised to drive economic growth while mitigating environmental impact.
