On February 29, a meeting was held between Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee, and Yamada Jun, Ambassador of Japan to Kazakhstan. The primary agenda of the meeting was to discuss the potential resumption of air travel between the two countries, aiming to boost economic, business, and cultural exchanges.
Tompiyeva informed that Kazakh airlines are currently assessing the possibility of launching direct flight routes between Kazakhstan and Japan. The plan is to have these routes operational by the first half 2025. This initiative is a testament to Kazakhstan’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with Japan and ensuring a seamless travel experience for citizens and tourists.
Ambassador Yamada Jun expressed his full support for this initiative. He underscored Japan’s willingness to work closely with Kazakhstan to fast-track the resumption of air traffic.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to continue engaging in productive discussions and joint efforts. These endeavours aim to facilitate re-establishing air travel between Kazakhstan and Japan, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.
