The arrival of the first 500 sets of Starlink equipment in the country, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, Bagdat Musin reports. These satellite systems are set to revolutionize connectivity in rural areas, particularly in educational institutions.
Deployment Plan for High-Speed Internet
Musin revealed that a total of 2,000 satellite systems will be installed, aiming to provide high-speed Internet access to 2,000 rural schools across Kazakhstan. He emphasized his personal involvement in overseeing the equipment acceptance process in Almaty and outlined the timeline for installations in Turkestan and Akmola regions.
Expansion to All Regions
The Minister assured that the next batch of Starlink equipment is scheduled to arrive in the remaining regions within 10 days. Within 20 days, a grand total of 2,000 sets will be delivered, ensuring widespread access to high-speed Internet for remote rural schools throughout the country.
Kazakhstan's Stance on Technological Advancements
Addressing concerns about the utilization of Starlink in Kazakhstan, Minister Musin emphasized the country's openness to embracing new technologies. While installations have commenced, current regulations prohibit the use of this internet connection for personal purposes. However, plans are underway to introduce amendments to satellite system usage regulations, as announced by Musin in November 2023.
Earlier, in January it was reported that only 270 rural schools will gain access to the internet through Starlink satellites.
